In 21 centuries society, the use of technology plays a key role on everyone daily life. As I am born in Generation Y society which grew up with internet and social networking. I had adopted to use different social media platform from Xanga, MSN to Facebook on my daily life. There are many types of social media establish during this 10 year such as Instagram, Snap chat, Telegram, WeChat. All the social media has different character. As I am not the active person on social media, I only use few platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. I use Twitter a little bit because of the university unit. In addition, I also use LinkedIn to seek part-time and intern job.
Social media might have different online identity which influence by the factors of frequent of use, friend, interaction a specific online community. ALM101 has allow us to critically identify our online identity in certain ways.
This post is going to reflecting and compare my online identity on Twitter and Instagram. Instagram as present my memories in my life, compare with the use of Twitter where I use for interacting with people and build an online community.
Instagram
I had been using Instagram for long while, Normally, I use Instagram for sharing reflection memory to my friend. Therefore, it can be called as life narrative for my Instagram online identities
As Instagram is online social media specific for sharing photo and short video. In addition, people who interest your platform can following and view the post immediately.
I believe that sharing positive and memorable experience on social media is very useful because people can share their real life activates make attention and promotion to audience. According to poleeti,A Watson J 2014 p.8 shows that life narrative is describes autobiographic act which do not have to be written down but it can be visual, filmic, performative. Life narrative is about the personal life which are found in new media including digital media. This is what I am trying to do in my Instagram platform that sharing positive and memorable image presents the important value in my life. Here is some example below.

In reflection, I had become aware of how I chose the photo on Instagram effectiveness attract the audience follow and like my account. However, this is not my initial purpose to use Instagram. It might be because I construct virtual selves on social media. Bullingham & Vasconcelos (2013 p106) shows that social media is not unusual. However, this generation will create a persona or online sense of self to representation a ‘normal’ life. I agree with the statement, as I am the good example that use Instagram representing a ‘normal’ life
Twitter
I do not share my personal details on Twitter. Normally, I use Twitter for communicate and engage community. As I though Twitter is the best way to get information and build a confession with people who has same interest with me. On my twitter account, I had been used for engaging and interactive on movie community (see tweets below). According to poleeti,A Watson J 2014 p.80 suggest that confession online with intimacy with anonymity is virtual community of share experience in online sites. This may encourage user to disclose their secret and create potential risk to their privacy. However, I am partial agree with it. Base on my experience, social media had provided good opportunities to meet new friend and to learn other opinions. However, people should avoid to exposure the sensitive personal detail on the internet and social media.
In reflection of my usage of twitter experiment, it gives me an opportunities to communicate with people who have same interest with me. For example, I am the big fans of superhero. I can use the Twitter to interact with people about superhero topics. Therefore, it can reflect through online confession to building an online community.
Comparison
I have different ‘performance’ on social media platform after my reflection and identities. As Instagram is my private account that share with my friend who I know. Therefore, I can share personal experience and values on Instagram platform. However, I am reviewing by social media environment from day to day. I can’t only be the authentic personal on Instagram. This is because I would like to attract more audience like my photo rather than presenting the real life. Compare to my Twitter account it is building online confession with different people. It is completely different activity with Instagram platform. Being an authentic person to engage with people who has the same interest with me. I had sharing my real opinion on different movie and interact with online people on Twitter.
Conclusion
I would come to the conclusion of my experience learnt from social media influenced by other person and making critical analysis to judge the important received is primary principle to use social media. The key of using social media is presenting what you worth and don’t get lost!!!
